Where Do You Need Strength the Most?

April 13, 2017

There are hundreds of promises in God's Word on receiving strength from the Lord. God's word also says, "You have not because you ask not." Why is it that when we are weak, we don't get around to asking God to strengthen us? Perhaps we are busy, tired, preoccupied, or stressed. It is these very conditions that God can give you relief from. Let's look at some areas where we need strength.

1. Physical Strength:

Sometimes we are overly tired and wake up like we haven't slept at all. We can re-evaluate how we are using our time, however, sometimes there is nothing that can be deleted. We may be over obligated and just too darn busy. Whether you can make changes or not, God can strengthen you to get through it. Sometimes it's chronic pain or our health that's giving us a fit. I deal with Fibromyalgia and have for more than 15 years. I am always in pain. It's just a matter of how bearable it will be on any given day. God can heal our health or give us strength to endure it. We just need to ask Him for strength for the day or even moment.

2. Emotional Strength:

Many of us are in unhappy marriages. Some of us are depressed. There are those that have concerns about children or family members. And some of us are just sad about life in general and may not even know why. Life is a challenge. But it's also a journey. A journey we cannot face alone. God has the answer: Time with Him. Try this... For 5 minutes for the next 7 days, actually get on your knees before God and pour your heart out to Him. Tell Him everything you feel and ask Him, according to His Word, to grant you strength and answers. You'll be surprised how much this will comfort you.

3. Spiritual Strength:

It's so very easy to become distant from God. We need His presence! Maybe you are angry at God for taking a loved one from you. Perhaps you feel like your prayers will never be answered because you've been praying for so long. During these, "desert times," we must remain faithful and know that God is still there. He will not leave us. Usually we are the ones who move away from Him. Don't let busyness get in between you and God. Worship is key. Play Christian music. Work up to singing along with the music. Listen to the words of the song. You'll be amazed at how God can move you with music. Don't stop talking to God. Ask Him if there is anything in your life that needs to go. And speak with words of faith, telling God you wait on His perfect timing. Before long, He will defintely restore your joy.

4. Strength to Overcome Addictions:

Everyday you interact with people who struggle with addictions. And everyday you may be keeping your own secrets. Reliance on too much alcohol, pills, over-eating, shopping, eating disorders like bulimia and many other things can become addictions. The problem with addictions is they keep you captive and they numb your senses so you don't even think about talking to God. Often, out of shame. You know in your heart how serious the situation is. If you feel shame, it's a sign that you know you are doing wrong. But God's not mad at you! He's sad because He wants fellowship with you and also because He can't bless you like He desires. Please seek out a trusted friend, your pastor, or professional help. You can have freedom and you can feel good about yourself with the opportunity for all the blessings God has for you. No matter where you are, strength is there for you from your Father. He is waiting for you to ask so He can heal you and lead you back to the best life you've ever had!
