6 Steps to Supercharge Your Joy!

These days it's sometimes hard to focus on joy because of the negatives that bombard our lives. Losing loved ones, hateful people, tragedy in the news and bad circumstances are all around us.

Living with a joyful nature is a choice and only you can make that choice for yourself. You can live in disdain towards others. That means you see some folks as unworthy of your attention and respect. Or you can live in harmony with God and those around you. Here are six ways to SUPERCHARGE your joy.

Reach Out To God

The only way to have an ultimately peaceful life is to be as close to God as you can be. This, too, is a choice. God want's to fill you with supernatural joy and fulfill your dreams. Romans 15:13 says, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." God gives hope and joy lavishly. The only condition is that we are walking in fellowship with Him.

Lend Your Hand and Your Heart

Being kind and empathetic towards others is a sure pathway to joy. So many people are hurting deeply and no one knows. When someone tells you they are, "fine," and you can tell they are not... gently probe. Find out how you can help them or just listen completely with your heart. Sometimes folks just need to talk things out with someone who cares. Do something unexpected to surprise someone. It can be a small gesture that makes a huge impact. Comment on friends Facebook posts. People read every single comment and it will encourage them that someone is paying attention to them.

Name 5 Things Your are Grateful for Everyday

Joy can come in the form of a gratitude journal. When we take the time to write down the things we are thankful for it maximizes our joy. Sometimes we don't take time to think about our blessings at all. This is definitely a barrier to joy. Psalm 136:1 says, "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever." It is a necessity to think about all we have to be grateful for. Writing them down is the best way because we can look back on our blessings and be encouraged. Each day write down minimally five things you are thankful for. It makes a difference.

Make it a Point to Notice Nature

Rush, rush, rush! That's usually the daily practice we find ourselves embracing. Slowing down and noticing nature can fill us with joy. If you can go for a short walk each day, it will re-energize you and help you to see God's handiwork in life. Every time I see a butterfly, I say, "Thank you, Jesus."

I have a garden that I adore. Right now it's in bad shape because I am having knee surgery in 2 days and have not been able to get it weeded and ready. But I do have some perennials that are popping up and that makes me happy. When the garden is done, me and my grandsons, Liam and Keaton, spend a lot of time out there with dragonflies, butterflies, frogs and chipmunks. It brings me joy.

Live Life with Forgiveness as a Core Value

You cannot be joyful if you are hanging onto grudges. It's virtually impossible. Some folks stay angry at someone for days or even worse, years. If you want to be truly free, you must step away from self-centered thoughts and release your anger. You will never be happy or content until you make this decision. This is a dynamic scripture to embrace: "Get rid of all bitterness and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort. Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ." Ephesian 4:31& 32. The good news is: God honors your willingness to forgive and will reward your obedience and fill you with the freedom of joy.

Before You Get Out of Bed...Pray

Start your day powerfully equipped with God's grace and direction. By praying before you get out of bed you can ask God to proactively handle the stressors of your day. Give Him thanks for His love. Ask Him to walk through your day with you. If you are experiencing grief, tell God that you trust Him to comfort you supernaturally. Tell Him your weaknesses because He is the one who strengthens us. Thank Him, in advance, for allowing you to minister or be kind to someone that day and to help you know who needs your attention.

By applying these six steps, you will see a massive difference in your life! You will supercharge

your joy, become closer to God and create happiness for others in the process. And that's plenty to be joyful about!
