us cranky.

Re-Living a Frustrating Situation Over and Over Again

When someone smarts off or does us wrong, it is super easy to re-play in our minds, over and over, how wrong they were and how right we are. Problem is, this takes up too much head space and limits our productivity. Maybe we are right. That doesn't change the fact that the situation is limiting our joy and making us cranky. Just forgive it so you don't have to re-live it. Odds are the other person does not care either way, so it's hurting you not them. Get some freedom and get your head straight. It's just not worth it.

Deciding on a Negative Outcome in Advance

Negative Nelly's take note. If you do this, it will probably become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Debbie Downers are all around us. Don't be one! We read in Matthew 15:11, "It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” Speaking or thinking negative outcomes is a lack of trust in God's promise of provision. It also binds the angels from working things out in our behalf.

Obsessing Over Your Problems

Problems create stress – no doubt! Worrying is human nature. Worry is also pride. We think we can figure out how to solve our problems on our own. Worry is like a rocking chair. It keeps us busy, but it doesn't get us anywhere. I read a great quote from my friend's daughter (Jede Nail) this week: Why do we trust God to get us to heaven but we don't trust Him to get us to the end of the month? Matthew 21:22 says, "And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.

Expecting Other People to Care as Much as You Do

If you have high expectations of yourself or you are a perfectionist or you have a strong work ethic... there will be plenty of opportunities for us to become frustrated with other folks. It would be great if everyone would put as much care and effort into life as we do every single day. The reality? It's just not going to happen. Now, you may have really stellar communication skills and can help people step up the level of their game. But if it doesn't work, don't you be the one to carry around a burden you can't control.

Neglecting Ourselves

There are many ways to neglect ourselves and some of us are really good at it. Comparing ourselves is probably the number one element of hurting ourselves. You have been created for a purpose and no one but you can fulfill it. It's not about your looks, style, hair or face. It's your heart and how closely you walk in harmony with God. Other ways are not eating right and not taking care of our bodies. Also allowing our inner critic to beat us up with degrading comments and self insults. There is a scripture you need to know and embrace. "...You are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you..." Isaiah 43:4 God says that to you today and everyday! That is all you need to know. You are enough!
