We all have dreams! We all have things that thrill us. When planning our future, we want to make sure we are walking in God’s perfect will. Remember, God designed you the way you are with talents, abilities, and desires. His perfect will is one that will make you happy. Of this, you can be sure. Your destiny is in his hands. This is the first step. Believe God has your destiny intact.
To live your destiny, nurture your relationship with God. That intimacy will allow you to be willing to walk through the doors that he opens for you, even when you feel unqualified for the quest. We read in 2 Corinthians 8:11-12, “Now finish the work, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have. For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.” It takes daily effort to nurture our relationship with God. God desires to hear from you and feel your love. Take the time necessary to allow him to be an intrinsic part of your life.
God has planned your life before you were born and will reveal it to you as the Holy Spirit develops you. You gain progress by realizing God’s will and by staying close to him and by demonstrating your willingness to change. Resist fear and panic if he seems to be taking you someplace that is not within your comfort zone. We grow the most by stepping outside of our comfort zone and letting God use us beyond our own vision. Isaiah 50:4 says, “Morning by morning he awakens me and opens my understanding to his will.”
As long as you listen to God, you are free to explore the things that make your soul shine. Start looking into everything you need to know about what you want to do. If you want to open your business, go ahead and get your business license. If you want to be an artist, take some painting classes. If you want to become a writer, get some books on writing. Make an Action List and highlight or underline the things you need to remember. Start taking small steps towards your goal.
In addition to career aspects, there may be activities that make your soul shine. When I say, “makes your soul shine,” I mean things that thrill you. Several of my friends work with horses. If you like to dance, give yourself a night to go out with friends. As I mentioned, I adore gardening. I just went out to look at the condition of my gardening area today. With two year’s neglect, it is rough shape. I’ll have my work cut out for me in Spring but I am determined. I will love having my garden back. If you love children, do some volunteer work. Whatever it is that thrills you, pursue it whole-heartily. God will smile because you are happy. He wants that for all of us.
“Share your plans with the Lord, and you will succeed.”
