Kingdom Thinking

Fresh Start + Open Heart

Whether you make New Year's Resolutions or not, a new year is a fresh start! A fresh start requires a positive attitude. Having an open heart is essential to being a positive thinker! I work on developing discernment. Discernment is being sensitive to God's plans for your life. Discernment is also knowing how to act and respond in any given situation. We gain discernment from wisdom. Wisdom comes from asking God for it. Job 12:13 tells us, "To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are His." God understands you and all that goes on in your life. He longs to give you wisdom. Wisdom comes from His Word and asking in prayer.

Love People

Start at home. Start with yourself. Make a commitment to abstain from criticizing yourself. Invest in extreme self-care. Nurture your spirit. Stay close to God and it will be easier to love and appreciate yourself. Love your family deeply. Verbalize what they mean to you. Then, love everyone in your pathway. The Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself. People are not okay. When someone says they are, "fine," a lot of times they really aren't. This is where discernment comes in again. You'll feel whether you should gently probe for more information to help them or pray for them. If you can pray on the spot that is a powerful thing! Many people just really need to talk. Be the kind of person who is sincere, caring, and aware. Love people like Jesus did!

An Eternal Mindset

We can really get bogged down with the daily grind. Just knowing I have to plan something for dinner every single day for the rest of my life until I die overwhelms me! Ha!

Laundry, Traffic, Errands, Work, Serving, and the list goes on. However, we are just passing through this life because our eternal home is heaven and we should take as many people with us as possible. What really matters is... Did you Live? Did you Love? Did you make a difference in the world? Seeking God's kingdom does not mean the rest of life will be perfect but it does mean that we can have the security knowing we are connected to God and under is loving care.

"But seek first the kingdom

of God and his righteousness, and all these

things will be added to you."

~ Matthew 6:33
