Petitioning God for Healing

When I was diagnosed with 4th Stage Ovarian Cancer, my friend, Tinie Solomon, said I need to petition God. At first, the word, "petition," sounded strong to me...like telling God what to do. But God asks us in the Bible to petition Him. Petitioning is simply attaching a scripture to each prayer request. With God’s promises in front of you, pray the answer through the prayer of petition. Petition Him with these promises from His Word. When you do, you are praying with precision, rather than around and around in circles. 1 John 5:14, "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us." Here is an example with my own Cancer prayer that I wrote at the very beginning of my illness.

My Prayer...

First, Lord, I come to you with adoration and reverence. I surrender all of me to you to do as you wish. I pray only for your perfect will to be front and center in my life. ”Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me. He forgives my sins and heals all my diseases” (Psalm 103:2-3)

I ask according to your word (2 Timothy 1:7) that you remove all fear from my mind and spirit. May the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in my heart. I reject fear and I do not fear a bad report because I am unshakeable because my trust is in you (Psalm 112:7) I pray that you would help me have eyes that sees the good no matter what is happening around me.

I give you my weepy feelings and ask that you remove my sorrow because I stand on your promises and no weapon (Cancer) formed against me will succeed. (Isaiah 54:17) Manage and control my emotions that I will not rely on myself but You, always.

I ask you, God, that all important health concerns be revealed and brought out in the open. I pray that the Doctors involved will have supernatural wisdom regarding my condition and missing information will be found.

I ask you that you strengthen my breathing as it is weak and shallow. Let me breathe in the fresh air of healing. By His wounds I am healed. (Isaiah 53:5) I ask you to strengthen my body and give me energy to go through what I must go through.

In Jeremiah 30:17 your Word promises, “I will bring health back to your body and heal every wounds, says the Lord.” I claim your promise and look forward to the day this becomes a reality.

I trust you to keep me peaceful in you, regardless of what health reports say as we continue this journey. “You will keep him in perfect peace, those whose minds are stayed on thee, because he trusts in You.”

I ask these things of you Lord because your Word says that I should present my requests to You and You will answer me.

Thank you, in advance, Father, that you have heard my prayer this day and these things will be done. In the name of Jesus, ~ Amen

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:7
