The God of Hope
Hope is defined: to cherish a desire with anticipation; to want something to happen or be true. You see, God is a God of hope. He knows what you need before you ask, but God wants you to come to Him and talk to Him in prayer about it. Hope is EXPECTING God to move on your behalf in your heart of hearts.
Be Joyful in Hope
Ephesians 3:20 says, "And now to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly beyond what our mind can comprehend or imagine, according to the power that works in us." When bad news strikes, our knee jerk reaction is to mope, feel sorry for ourselves, or even have a melt down. I had a weeping melt down in the Dr. Office when I received the news. From February to now has been a bad news tailspin. But God! He can do more than I can imagine in my current situation. That's awesome news. Starting a gratitude journal helps us track our lives and the work God does in intervals. The very fact that God is a Healer and the author of Hope gives me strength to find joy. And the important fact that I am chosen by God to do good works brings me joy as well.
Be Patient in Affliction
Affliction defined is: Something that causes pain and suffering. Why does God ask us to be patient in Affliction? Because He wants us to know 3 things: 1. Patience in affliction increases our strength and endurance. 2. It shows God that we are trusting him although things look really bad...That's Faith. 3. It shows our love for God because we know that he will deliver us. Also, when I am going through a crisis, I want God to see I'm am Joyful In Hope and not bitter, because of my faith in God. Important Note: God and the Angels can not help a bitter, complaining spirit. So do your best to read the Bible, Pray, and Listen to music. It drives bitterness away. Also, it helps to distract yourself with fun stuff. I've always wanted to learn to make my own jewelry. So I watched a YouTube video and learned how. I got me some beads and I've made 15 pairs so far. It's fun, creative, and enjoyable! I'm also working on an Australia Scrapbook too. These fun things help take my mind off the Cancer. Do you believe you can peace during affliction? I am purposefully camping out in the land of peace. Don't get me wrong... I am sad and scared about this whole process! But mostly I have supernatural peace. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us, "You will keep him in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on you because they trust in you."
Be Faithful in Prayer
We read in Proverbs 3:5, "Lean not unto your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will show you what path to take." Faithful is defined: Remaining loyal and Steadfast. Steadfast means firm and unwavering. So we are to be loyal, firm and unwavering in our prayer life. Scriptures help a lot. I typed up a sheet of some of my favorite scriptures and laminated it. I also wrote a prayer to God, very specifically asking him to heal my shortness of breath, manage my emotions, and a whole list of things that I attached to God's promises in Scripture. Both the scripture list and prayer are by my bedside table to read everyday. And the prayers of the Saints will lift your name to heaven with you so confide in some prayer warriors. When you are faithful in prayer, God will send you angels, people and friends to protect you and cover you. The scripture I have chosen to be my core scripture through this cancel battle is, Jeremiah 30:17, "I will bring health back to your body and heal every wound, says the Lord!" Yesterday I received a beautiful gift in the mail. It was a plush blanket with a lamb on it and it says, "I will bring health back to your body and heal every wound, says the Lord! My eyes welled up with tears. It was the most thoughtful gift and I can wrap myself in my healing scripture! Don't you just love it?
“All things work together for good for those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.”
